I FINALLY SAW A T in person

#1 Post by Guest » Thu Sep 09, 2004 4:14 pm

Well I have been back at school since Monday but going to my campus store was not priority. I walked in and there the T41 and R51 were sitting there calling my name. I must say I love the T41 it is the perfect size perfect weight and balance. The 14 inch screen is large enough for me. The T41 is also the thinnest I have seen. I love it. What is my major gripe? The keyboard. Having gone to CompUSA and best buy and played around with other notebooks' keyboards this one feels better than most but I still felt as if I had typed on this keyboard before. SO I guess that means some company made a nice keyboard or I just did not type long enough. Same keyboard on the R51. However it is very nice with the largest letters I have seen. No doubt quality is there which is what I have to talk about. It feels like a quality machine. Yeah back to whats the best thing. It is thin and light. I mean it is perfectly thin. Balance and the SXGA + is a great screen. I am not sure about viewing angles but standing 6 feet tall with the laptop on a table about3-4 feet I had the screen at maybe a 110 degrees or more and it was perfect. I could not elevate the laptop up high like you can do in the stores but it was nice. I am looking forward to buying it in December I believe. No rush anymore. I actually love my desktop at school and with my single I am not cramped for space.

Also the R51 had a regular screen so I could not comment on Flexview. The R seemed to be much thicker than the T but not bulk.

Good - I thought it was just me that goes around computer stores to play with the computers - I have to also admit, that I tend to go to ibm.com and price laptops - Even though, I have a ThinkPad :)

I know this is lame but....

I actually went into Rogers storefront a few times as they have 3 Thinkpads setup there with Internet. I go in there pretending I'm shopping for cell phones when my real intentions were to play with them Thinkpads. Didn't want them to think "WTH is this guy touching, feeling, lifting, and turning the laptop for, we sell cell phones not laptops!"

But they were the only place in town with Thinkpads available to see in person.
I am Canadian

Oh Yeah I need to check for that creaky palm rest thing. Thanks for reminding me. Anything else on a T41 to check for?
