#1 Post by koden » Sun Jan 07, 2007 2:28 pm

I have a built in Atheros mini pci card.
I think there is something wrong with it.
So when I have to buy a new one is there cards that is better than other cards??
Or is there wireless card with WIFI and blutooth?

My atheros is a little bit slow to catch network....

The BlueTooth is integrated into the modem and not the wireless card, as for Wireless I personally have the Intel 2200BG and have had no trouble with it whatsoever.

You will regulary see the 2200BG on eBay for about $20.00
(Others might have better recommendations, but I like the Intel)

You can also replace your modem with the bluetooth enabled version. Search on eBay for "T40 Bluetooth" and you'll see a couple examples of what I'm referring to.
T40 2373-14U, 1.3 Centrino, 1GB RAM, Intel Wireless 2200BG, Hitachi 7K100 100GB

Problems with the wireless card are more frequently software-related. First thing to do is remove Access Connections from the computer and let Windows manage it.

I am now have my pc and my brothers dell beside each other.
We connect to the same wireless network.

The Dell has no problem but my T40 can't always see network and sometimes it loose connection or is just slow.

Is it the way I have connected my atheros card?
It's connected to the AUX antenna and nothing else.
Or is the atheros card just not that good or maybe defect...

Or can it be some other reason that I have not been awear of?

I use the windows connection and have always done that.

There's your problem. The "Main" antenna wire should be connected to the inner socket and the "Aux" wire to the corner socket.
