#1 Post by cyanide959 » Tue Jan 09, 2007 2:37 am

hi all, my T22 fell off my desk on new years eve and now won't power on. can anyone recommend a good site where i can find a nice tool kit so i don't strip anymore screws when i re-open it back up and also where i can even get new screws for it?

You can get those new screws from IBM/Lenovo in a packet. Those are nylon coated screws where you can only use it once.

I just posted a recommendation on a screwdriver set in another topic:

Not really. I mean, they say that, but companies say a lot of things that you don't need to listen to. After a few uses they may not hold as well, true, but just don't over-torque them.

Over tighten the screws will damage the screw holes as well.

Just have Dan come over and fix it for you since you both live in PA....jk

You can get a screw kit from Dollar Tree, for $1. I have several sets that float around the house, and have worked on most occasions. As for the screws, you can reuse them.

Yea sure, Pittsburgh (or "Pittsuburgh" as the OP so aptly put it) is but a stones throw from Philly... :)

You trust dollar store screwdrivers? They chip easy...but I guess one shouldn't be so rough on them. Sometimes a stubborn screw and a cheap screwdriver=stripped screw. But you knew that already.

That is why I am very careful. I have only had 2 of the screwdrivers screw up (pun intended) on me. One stripped itself, the other separated between the handle the the screwdriver part.
