How soon will suspend work?

#1 Post by RBob » Tue Jan 09, 2007 9:52 am

How early in the boot sequence will suspend work?

I just powered up my R51 when I realized I had to be somewhere else. I wanted to just close the lid and go, but waited 'til Windows finished booting, afraid that either something bad would happen or that it wouldn't actually go into suspend mode.

Yeah, I know I could just try it myself, but checking all variations would be quite time consuming and then there's that lingering fear ...

I think suspend will work as soon as Windows starts to boot. I had the lid closed once on my 600 when it turned it on, and it went into standby as soon as Windows XP started to boot.
I have finally rejoined the dark side.

Pretty much the same experience here, suspend will work once the OS, Windows XP, has had a little time to load. After the OS has completed the suspension of its processes, then it is a matter of how fast the BIOS supports suspending. :)

I have suspended and even hibernated, all with successful resumes, on boot up and shut down...usually by accident.

She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
