Can't change ATI driver !!!

#1 Post by hhy2k » Fri Sep 10, 2004 4:16 am

Hi

This is very strange. I can not change the ATI driver on the T40p. If i try it says:

Setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration. Please make sure you have the required hardware or software.

This is the message. I am quite satisfied with my card, a 9000 FIRE GL, I tweaked a little bit from (250core/200mem) to 300/225 and like this it scores 8000 in 3dmark01 which is not that bad at all as I see T42p-s with ATI 9600 scoring around 9000-9500. But anyway, i can't change the driver... not even on the stock speed...

any idea how is this possible?

T40p/512/1.6/7K60

I don't really get it. Are you trying to install another ATI driver? If so, you can't install the normal ATI driver on laptops. You need to use a mobility modder. Read our FAQ, question 20. You can either use Patje's mobility modder with the stock ATI driver, or the Omega Driver which already includes the driver, doesn't need any modding.

Neither of which work, currently. At least, not with my FireGL T2. (the FireGL version of a 9600Pro).

The OmegaDrivers are missing a file needed for openGL support. He said he was going to add it in "this weekend"... that was a few weeks ago.

The MobModder doesn't properly mod the driver, at least not for my card. The driver installs ok, but I have *no* OpenGL support after it is installed. (GLQuake won't run because it sees no hardware OGL driver.) Direct3d does work OK with a MobModded ATI package though.
