Thinkpad T60p - CPU Upgrade to Core 2 Duo T7600
I have just replaced the T2500 in my 2623-DDU with a T7600. Slightly to my surprise the system no runs noticeably cooler. (I suppose it could be due to better/more cooling paste.) Definitely a plus.
The other odd thing is that now Vista does not seem to want to let me update the Windows Experience Index. In fact, it refuses to show me the values at all. I still get the original overall value on the Welcome Center page, but the Performance Information and Tools page no longer bears any trace of the values.

I too noticed that it runs cooler, but I put in just a T7400. More horsepower with the same load, should put fewer demands on the processor. However, when asked it can do more.
Today, I shut the lid and it went into suspend. Then I put it in the brief case and when I got home the whole thing was HOT and the fan was running at maximum.
Apparently, the logic went into suspend but the CPU did not. When I got it going again (remove battery etc.) it came up with a message about problems. One of which was that I did not have the IBM/Lenovo power driver installed (but I did ). I instlale it again and we will see.
I hope the high heat did not cook my CPU or GPU chips. It is running but that does not mean the cips were not damaged by heat.

I just upgraded my T60 from the T2400 to the T7200. I'm not 100 percent sure it's recognized properly. When I go into my device manager it shows two processors as:
Intel(R) Pentium(R) M CPU 000 @ 2.00GHz
I'm assuming that his is wrong, although my machine is running fine. When I run CPU-Z it shows the T7200 but the "Specification" is the same as above.

Thanks for the reply, I couldn't find this thread again to get back to you. I tried it, no change. In Sandra Lite, it shows that it's performance is great though, outperforming the benchmark for the same chip. I'm concerned about the temp, but I have no idea what the temp should hover around. It shows at 62 - 63 celcius.
Re: Thinkpad T60p - CPU Upgrade to Core 2 Duo T7600
I have Thinkpad T60p rev. 3.
Can I upgrade It from Core Duo (Yonah) T2500 to Core 2 Duo (Merom) T7200 ?
Will there be problems ?
edit: HERE is not listed

Yes you can upgrade, with no problems. I upgraded from a T2600 to a T7400 on a T60p.ekzidua wrote:I have Thinkpad T60p rev. 3.

Re: Thinkpad T60p - CPU Upgrade to Core 2 Duo T7600
I have an extra core2 cpu if anyone wants it. It's pulled from a T61, 1.8Ghz Meron. I can lookup the number. I think it's the base level cpu for a T61, but should be a significant upgrade for a T60 series, and I'll trade it for anything of equal value that I can use.
Re: Thinkpad T60p - CPU Upgrade to Core 2 Duo T7600
It's not a significant upgrade and it is not even compatible with a T60.

Can I simply swap out my T5500 CPU in my 1953CTO T60 with a T5600? Or my T2400 core duo in my 2623D6U T60?
