Is my X41T Dead??!!

#1 Post by mono666 » Wed Jan 10, 2007 3:34 am

Hi guys. I was using my x41 at school today, and the after the lecture ends the juice also ran out. so i just turned it off like I would normaly do. When I got home I turned on the x41 and booted to windows fine (weird) it ran for about 5 mins before it kicked into hibernate mode. so I pluged in the AC thinking the screen would turn on again. but it never turn on again, no matter I press esc/space/enter key or the mouse buttons the screen just don't turn back on. so I powered off my x41 and turn it back on again. I got a black screen, and no hdd activity or anything... what should i do? any suggestions?

Try unplugging your battery from your laptop and pressing the power button a few times.

Plug in the battery again and the AC cord.

Try powering up.

If that doesn't work, I don't know.

Have you tried pressing the power button and holding it in for AT LEAST 10-seconds? This is a reset that sometimes works. You may have already done this but I didn't see it written here.

Take the other guys' advice and try the power reset trick.

If it is under warranty, call up IBM Serv.

If nothing works, don't panic quiet yet. Eliminate the possibility it is a small failure. Remove all batteries (including the CMOS battery), memory, HD, wireless, bluetooth, Ethernet cards. See if you can get it up. Try one stick of RAM each time. Try disconnecting the LCD cable and hooking up to a monitor. I've seen a scenario where a shorted out inverter would cause the machine not to power up. If it doesn't come up after this, then it is almost most definitely a motherboard issue.
