MS Utility - hard drive display

#1 Post by bfgun » Sat Jan 13, 2007 2:16 am

Trying to find a utlity that's written by microsoft. Basically, it gives you a visual map of your hard drive. It's divided by colors and differnt blocks. but i can't find it anywhere. If anyone can help me out, please do. :)

This is for my T43 (just to stay on topic)

Thanks!

That's not what i'm looking for. I know that that does. This has a bunch of BLOCKS, not lines that show how much the hard drive is fragmented.

This small app shows a full image of your hard drive, and seperates the file types by color. It basically looks like a physical diagram/mapping if your hard drive. you can click on one block, and it'll tell you what files are in it, what type of file, and how much space it's using. The blocks sort of look like squarish bubbles in some way. I know it's hard to try and describe it, but mainly IT people would use this and not home users.

Any more suggestions? :)

Thanks,
B

Could it perhaps be DiskView (by Microsoft), you're thinking of: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysint ... kView.mspx

This program was made by Sysinternals, who were recently taken over by Microsoft (see http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysint ... fault.mspx - they provide a large number of highly usable, free tools!). I use several of Sysinternbal's tools daily, in particular their "Process Explorer".

Another (also free) hard drive mapping tool, with more options, is WinDirStat: http://windirstat.info/ - check it out!

Have fun... :-)

Kind regards,

Johan
