After suspend, resolution on T60p changes to 1024x768 ?!

#1 Post by BillMorrow » Sat Jan 13, 2007 3:51 am

has anyone heard of this..?
running vista RC-2 5744 on a T60p 200794U..
after a hot and heavy game of chess (or not, but usually) close lid, machine goes into suspend, open lid, machine comes back but the display resolution is not 1024x768..!
it easily changes back to 1200x1600..

I've had the same problem for months. It is an issue with either the ATI video driver or the lenovo power management driver. Unfortunately, none of the upgrades released to date fix the problem (Vista RTM may be different, but I haven't tried it yet).

Is your TP connected to another display (e.g. through a dock)?

I noticed that with ati rc2 drivers my TP frequently switched to "mirror" mode for displays on booting. The mirror mode is when both displays (TP's TFT and external one) display the same picture. In that case, the screen resolution on TP was lowered - probably to accomodate for the external display.

That problem has gone with rtm drivers from ATI. (I am talking about rc2 and rtm versions of ATI drivers, and not rc2 and rtm versions of Vista.) You may try those drivers which are available from AMD/ATI site.

My X1400 machine also switches to 1024x768 coming out of suspend, but within a few seconds it corrects itself and goes back to 1400x1150 mode. Still aggitating becuase Vista (RTM) resizes all my windows to fit 1024x768

I actually had this same problem as I was testing Vista RC-2 and I can say that the actual final release does fix this problem as far as I know. Then again, I'm [censored] that when i went to try and delete the partition with vista, because i didnt feel like playing with it anymore, my hard drive got a serious sector error that cant be fixed, so i effectively lost all the data on my laptop..... :(
