bluetooth and X31s - did they ship with a BT antenna?

#1 Post by alfio » Sat Jan 13, 2007 10:44 am

hi all

i'm looking for an X31 and i'm trying to figure out how IBM (or were these Lenovo builds already?) configured these machines, specifically to see if they shipped with bluetooth antennas.

in T43's, the bluetooth antenna is visible under the left hinge (as seen here http://www.badongo.net/pic/142180, does the same hold for X31's?

Just a suggestion. "A question" is very vague and that might explain why this thread has gotten so few visitors. If you specify that it's a question about whether the X31 has bluetooth antennas, you will maximize the chance of getting answers.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

My X31 (2672-CXU) comes with modem only, and I cannot see any cables through the hinge. I took the keyboard out the first week I had this computer (Sep 06), and seem to remember that there was both a modem cable and a BT antenna.

I actually thought this model had BT, but as a result of reading this thread realized that in fact I don't. CXU never shipped with BT.

PS - Post this in the X Series forum and you will get a lot more responses. This is T series forum.

good point - i was thinking about it in another way, i.e. a broader call gets more hits. shows how much i know about these things :)

ok, great! anyone else? i'd really like to get an X31 but i need it to at least have the antenna so that i can later update to bluetooth -- knowing that most (all?) X31s shipped out with BT antennas would be a huge help towards making a purchase.

any other X31 owners with BT experience? i would call IBM on this but since they assured me my T43 did not ship out with a BT antenna (even though the wire was clearly visible), i'm more inclined to look elsewhere for this info.

i upgraded my 2672-1LG also with bluetooth card - and there was an antenna - but i am not very satisfied with the reception quality...

Modded X31 26721LG | i2200bg, BMDC, X32 2GHz MB, 1.5G RAM, 100G HDD | Next? SXGA? =) | NFS Zone

Getting 2200BG cards work in IBM & adding extended channel support

BT models will have antenna in hinge cover, non BT models are shipped without antenna, so sourcng parts, namely CDC card, clearplate and BT anttena is up on you.
