T42 or ?

#1 Post by 66GTO » Fri Sep 10, 2004 10:51 pm

Hi, I have been thinking about getting a T42. There are many ways to order and I may need some help to get the right one. I think that I would want the 15" screen, but the 15" screen I saw at CDW looked fuzzy and dull compared to the 14". They did not seem to know why, but the difference was easily seen. The software that I use the most is mostly graphics oriented. Things like Photoshop, Vue4, Bryce5, and World Builder. Also Flight Simulator, Powerpoint, and a few racing games. Good sound with headphones for CD's is important, and hopefully the ability to use a
5.1 speaker system as well. 64 MB video ram would be good. With so many variations to select from, which might be good for what I do?
And where is the best place to buy?

Thanks!

The 15" displays are flexview and a fair amount better than the 14's. The reason for this could be many different things. Since they were demo units in a store they might not have been setup the same, different native resolutions, cleartype or not enabled or other settings and unless they are both setup to their optimum settings it is hard to compare.

Get the most/best you can afford with the budget you have.
I would buy from Bill right here at this site, I didn't but at the time did not know about him. He has very good pricing, customer support and probably faster than going through IBM.
