A22e won't boot

#1 Post by newmanm » Mon Jan 15, 2007 3:41 pm

I get one long two short beeps. lenovo says that means: LCD, memory, or bad motherboard

the first screen comes up, give me the boot options, which don't work, then the screen comes on listing what is in the computer, the cpu, the hard drive, etc, and that the memory has passed, etc.

I've tried putting in a new motherboard but get the same as above. I put the old one back in and returned the MB to vendor.

I tried putting in the old hard drive. I upgraded a while back.

I pulled out the memory, two modules of 128K, and tried putting one in at a time to see if one of the modules was bad.

any ideas?

That's such a shame, my dad have a fully functional A22e which served me too well in my college years.

have you check with other memory modules?

it turned out that I needed a new CMOS battery.

I installed a new one and it did not solve the problem. however, I could finally get into setup. I don't know if it had to do with anything, but I changed the boot options so that the machine will go through diagnostics.

voila. the machine booted.
