HELP: Atheros WLAN @ kubuntu
HELP: Atheros WLAN @ kubuntu
Hi!
I try to keep it short.
I tried to install my Atheros card on my T60 (2007VEH ; Atheros
chipset supports a,b,g,n (<- is that maybe the problem? the
current drivers don't work with 'n'?))
I followed the instructions here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=38972
..After this diddn't work out I tried to do what the README and
INSTALL file of the Madwifi pakage sais, which diddn't work out
either.
dmesg after modprobing "ath_pci"
[17179677.280000] ath_hal: module license 'Proprietary' taints kernel.
[17179677.284000] ath_hal: 0.9.17.2 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413, RF5413)
BUT iwconfig still says..
lo no wireless extensions.
irda0 no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
sit0 no wireless extensions.
which is supposed to say..
lo no wireless extensions.
wifi0 no wireless extensions.

is this the card you have? if so it's not supported with madwifi, according to that page you should be able to use nidswrapper with the windows driver until there's a better option. (here are some instructions: link1[/ur], [url=http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/medi ... php/Ubuntu]link2)
Can you post
please.
Code: Select all

Thanks for your replies!
@e_tank
Yes, I think thats it! But I'm not 100% for sure and I can't find it
out right now cause I'm in the internet of my college.
(I'll receive internet at home tomorrow) But I know 100% for sure
that it is a card which supports the 'n' standard.
I will also try your alternative method tomorrow, thanks :)
@seneca
I will post it tomorrow, I'm not on my TP right now, thanks.
BTW: My kernel version is 2.6.17-10-generic
