My T23 running on ac adapter has been reporting 80% battery and a yellow light for several days, not going down or getting a higher level of charge. I turned off all timers and let the battery discharge for a couple hours until there was just 4% left. Plugged in the ac adapter and there was the usual beep but the battery charged very slowly overnight and stopped at 78%. I suspect something wrong inside the T23 but I have an IBM 2-battery external charger thats powered by my adapter, removed the battery and connected it to the external charger. The light on the charger stayed yellow for 2 minutes and then turned green. Ok, I put the battery back into the T23 and nothing happened, could not get any response to the power button until I plugged in the ac adapter. The T23 booted and the power meter read 100%. Still curious why it wouldnt boot on the battery alone I repeated removing the ac adapter and battery, re-insert the battery and it still woudnt boot until I momentarily plugged in the ac adapter.
My T23 boots and runs fine on battery alone or adaper and battery or adapter alone. Just seems that I have to initiate something by plugging in the ac adapter anytime the battery is removed then re-inserted. A day later it's still showing 100% and running fine.
Weird power issue

Hmm... second problem involving a non-boot of a T2x with a known good battery in the last two weeks. For your reference, read this thread:
T22 wont start from battery
I don't recall roncoinc saying anything about a strange charging cycle but your description of the system not being able to boot using just the battery alone is the same. Using the battery alone, the system cannot turn on. Plugging in the AC adapter allows the laptop to boot/turn-on and then if you remove the adapter once the system has been turned on, the battery takes over and continues to run the system like normal.
I take it your third-to-the-last sentence is not quite what you mean:

That statement was correct, Ray. My T23 does boot on battery power alone.I take it your third-to-the-last sentence is not quite what you mean.

The problem is that once the battery has been removed and then re-inserted, it wont boot the first time until the ac adapter has been connected. Once that has been done, it boots and runs fine on battery alone.
Heres my situation: If I am on the road (I'm always travelling by automobile in my line of work) and need to change to a fresh battery, I'm not able to boot the T23 unless I can also plug in the ac adapter.
I did a search on this and read a few similar to Roncoinc's thread before starting this one.
