MHV2060AH HDD Drive

#1 Post by rebel25 » Thu Jan 18, 2007 5:04 pm

Hi,

I have a R52 thinkpad and would like to upgrade from a 40gb drive to a 60gb drive. Will the above hdd work in this thinkpad? I have tried but keeps giving some stupid bios error.

Thanks in advance.

On an R52, there should be no issue with an HDD upgrade, even if you don't have the newest BIOS. I'd check another disk if you can to see if it behaves the same way.

What is the error that you get? Is the new drive really "new", or is it from another machine?
Family Daily Drivers- T430s, T530, X220
Work- Sadly, the ThinkPads have gone away...... and replaced by HP ProDesk SFF drone machines :(
Other Projects- Edge 15, Z61m (Titanium)
Historic Retired ThinkPads- T42p, X20, A31p, 701c, 760XD, WorkPad C505

It's from another machine. The error is something about that this is not a IBM apporved hard drive. Other hard drives do the same thing. I there away to remove this stupid warning?

This is a known issue with R-52s and non-IBM hard drives. Check out the discussion at :
