T42 Screen Issue

I have a T42 whose screen has just gone out, but before that it would work only in one position, now when I move the screen back and forth I just get white lines, now nothing. Any Idea? I believe that the screen still works, but I am thinking it may be the cord between the monitor and the motherboard, if other people think it may be that, where could I get that replacement part.

it sure SOUNDS like the "printed wiring" cable between the base and top..

there is a slight chance that it could be one of the plugs on one end or the other..

in the former case, if warranty still exists on this thinkbad, then thats the way you should go..
if no warranty, get the hardware maintenance manual, look up the part FRU number and get the cable..

you might try pulling the keyboard (again, the HMM will be of great help) and reseat the plug..
doing this on the top is a little harder..
