What's the best Thinkpad Sleeve/Case?

Does anyone has any opinion on the Mamba.XM?? ie quality, protection?

I already have an incase sleeve. so I'm looking for something that can hold my T42, and school stuffs.

Those Mobile Edge sleeves look awesome but are designed to only fit machines 10" deep according to the website. The T42 probably won't fit since it's about 10.4" deep. I can't imagine that these cases have much give in them since they're molded.

well i'm rethinking my decision ot buy shinza. I thought it was only too tall for my laptop which I could have dealt with some knifing but it's too wide too :s

no it fits hte laptop great. not my backpack great =) I htink the powersleeve fits just as well as the sleeve you pointed towards since there's not give on the sleeve at all =)

I got a powersleeve 14 for my T30 at Christmas. It fits very well. The laptop slides in for a perfect fit side to side and slides down inside an extra 3/4" further than the overall width of the laptop (powersleeves are portrait layout). The front pocket fits the charger cables nicely if you remove the AC cord from the brick.

I want a sleeve that will provide protection from the inevitable small drop, and it looks like the zs is the only one to do that. Anyone who has one or a similar item care to comment?
On the zeroshock page there's a graph comparing their polyurethane material to 'standard' foam. The info booklet for the ibm Thinkpad case with the safeport air cushion also shows poor performance for standard foam. Finally, I use custom orthotics and from experience have found that polyurethane adds far more shock absorbtion than neoprene. For all that the ZS looks like the solution.
Of course I can't tell what it's actually like in use. Can you squeeze the AC brick in there? I'll have the sleeze inside another bag so it's not essential.

I recently purchased the convertible thinkpad case from IBM (www.ezm.com) to supplement by PowerSleeve 15. This case is loaded with well thought out features:

PROs:
* A folding roller attachment! When you want to use this as a bag with wheels, you can attach the included wheel kit to the bag. When you want to travel light (wheel kit is about 1lb), you can leave the wheels at home. * This bag is one of the few I've seen with both wheels and a shoulder strap.
* Flip out flap for cellphones, blackberrys, and iPods allows you to access these devices without having to struggle with zippers.
* A removable accesories plate. You can put the thinkpad charger and other accessories into pouches on the plate and remove the entire plate from the bag if you want.
* Expandable storage compartment to hold stuff you just can't leave home without.
* A retractable sleeve that you can use for holding airplane tickets and business cards.

The two CONs are:
* Construction quality is good, but not at the same level as Tumi or Booq. The ID holder is especially cheap looking. EZM makes a higher priced line that I've seen in person, and those cases are built better. Unfortunately, I'm cheap
* Just barely big enough for a T42 15" with 9-cell battery. Some people may not be comfortable with the low margin for error.

Does anyone know which sleeves/bags which have been mentioned in this thread are waterproof?

Do you mean water resistant, as in the case will protect a Thinkpad in rain? The PowerSleeve and IBM convertible case are mainly nylon, so you could always spray them to make them more water resistant if you're really worried.

If you're completely paranoid, you always could get a Pelican case. Those things are water-tight and actually float on water. I'm not sure you'd want to carry such a bulky case around though.

P.S. It survived my bathtub and jacuzzi test. As soon as my pool opens back up, it's on to the swimming pool test. Muahahahhaha!!!
