Hi,
I have a 2.16 core 2 duo and I'm wondering if for battery life and heat i should be running with NHC or without? I'm running it now and everything seems to be the same. I can't seem to find others with good info on the core 2 duo and NHC. Do i need to uninstall power manager, or stop the service? Should I use "Minimal power management" in control panel options? Should I use a power manager profile?
What is typical cpu temperature during long periods of idle? I'm getting 44-46 degrees.
Is there a way to undervolt the ati v5250? What about underclock it? Does it clock step by default? and if underclocked will it still clock step?
The video card under full load will generate more heat then the cpu under full load, correct? or no?
Will 2x 2GB sodimms use more power then 2x 1GB? or is power draw identical?
sry, lot of questions! Thanks!
Jason

NHC let's you undervolt your CPU and your GPU also, this means a cooler system

I don't have Lenovo's Power Manager utility installed, and under Windows Power Manager the current profile is Portable Laptop.

Yours are typical temps

Download ATiTool

Yes, FireGL's from T60/p tend to generate a lot of heat in comparison with T4x series FireGL cards.

Likely the same amount of volts required

Re: t60p 2.16 merom - NHC yes or no? - ati control
I was actually disappointed with NHC when I set up my dad's T60 (also Core 2 Duo 2.16) -- it didn't allow me to drop the 6x voltage below 0.9V. So NHC doesn't make a big difference on his ThinkPad. Didn't have a chance to try RMClock to see if it would give me more latitude on the voltages.benottomex wrote:I have a 2.16 core 2 duo and I'm wondering if for battery life and heat i should be running with NHC or without?

Oh yeah, more memory will use more power. But not a lot more -- IIRC it might be something like 0.5W per GB.benottomex wrote:Will 2x 2GB sodimms use more power then 2x 1GB? or is power draw identical?
