Recovery partition / recovery disks differences

#1 Post by DennisGordon » Sun Jan 21, 2007 12:44 pm

I hope this isn't a woefully ignorant question...but:

Having made recovery disks for my wife's T43 and a friend's T42 in the past coupla weeks, it occurred to me that I don't really know when to use one or the other. Are disks just a backup of the partition, in case that gets bollixed, or is there a difference in what is restored between the partition and the disks?

The Recovery disks are intended to leave your Thinkpad as factory state. In general terms a T43 recovery disks should work on all T4x series laptop, but some drivers will be missing. The disks also recover the IBM_SERVICE partition.

BTW, congratulations Chicago Bears made it to the Super Bowl!
