Flexing 14" T60p display. Possible to change the rear c

#1 Post by avesuni » Sun Jan 21, 2007 1:08 pm

Hey,

I just got my T60p. I got lucky with the SXGA LCD. The screen is great, but I seem to have a defective rear cover. If I apply even a little pressure on the back, "waves" appear on the LCD. The rear cover doesn't curve outward as it does on my Z60t and on my friends' T60s.

Does anyone know, if it's possible to change just the rear cover? I got so lucky with the LCD that I don't want to risk changing the whole display.

Thanks for your help.

It's possible but considering it's a new machine, I'd let warranty take care of it. In the past they have been very good. Traffic on the web is that they still perform better than Dell, Gateway, etc.

I also have a T60p w/ SXGA.

Good to hear, I was afraid the only way is to change the whole display. Do you know, if it's a small thing, something they could do on site, without having to take computer away

Well, they say that the 14" T60p series uses LCDs from three different manufacturers and that the quality varies a lot.

My screen sharp, bright and the viewing angles are quite good. In fact, it has even less graininess than my friend's new 15" SXGA Flexview screen. Another colleague's UXGA Flexview, however,is superior to this one.
