iPhone, AAPL, MSFT, Vista, Palladium, et al...

Wandering through one of my several email address's, I find this interesting commentary on Apple, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: AAPL) new iPhone (or is it Cisco's (Nasdaq: CSCO) iPhone?)

This makes interesting reading and parallels some of my thoughts about the iPhone and Cell Phones vs. iPods (aka MP3 players)
which, in this case are:
Aside from the "gee whiz" factor I'm not sure I want to spend $500+ on a gadget that does more than I really want it to do. What if the music player stops playing? now I am without everything while one part gets fixed. Or maybe those who will lay out that $500+ will just run out and buy a new one..

I like it that I don't have to carry my iPod whenever I'm on the road.
Plugging it into the car stereo system is fine and thats where the universality of iPod is nice.

BUT, also nice is that I can leave iPod and just carry a cellphone.

which leads to THIS, which I present for your consideration..

Now, FWIW, I have been warning about the "You Own Nothing" issue for a while..

i'm not sure if they still call it "Palladium" or, perhaps some other misnomer (like "Patriot Act")..

Bill, that was some very interesting, if not somewhat lengthy reading. I agree with you and the authors of those articles. I started by reading the Trusted Computing FAQ. That whetted my appetite for the iPhone and You Own Nothing articles.

To mimic Shultz: "I trust no one, no one!"

Big business is just not to be trusted. They're as bad or worse than politicians and government.

Reading this made me think of the movie "Network" with Peter Finch - which was so spot on. I want to say: "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!", but it's difficult.

It's a conspiracy I tell you :!:

BTW, if you get a chance, see "The Galindez File", which is based on the true story about a man that was kidnapped and disappeared for writing a book. I just saw it on the Sundance channel and thought it was pretty good political thriller.
