Model 1707 ??

#1 Post by jkbrand » Mon Jan 22, 2007 5:03 pm

I've seen a couple of these models for sale (1707-5DU), but they're not included in Tabook.

Any reason why?? Oversight? Education-only model??

It appears they're similarly configured o the 1706-5DU, and IBM's site certainly acknowledges the 1707, just not Tabook...

Maybe it's recently introduced and the Tabook just hasn't been updated to include it.

Yeah that's exactly it. The tabook date is dec-06 while i saw the new 2505 models only in jan 07. I want the updated tabook to see what we can really get. The education site for one does not yet sell the 1705 models yet. They can have both the ultralight screen and integrated bluetooth, which is something the older models didn't have as the old ultralight display could not accommodate the bluetooth antenna.

I wonder if they are waiting for L7200 and L7500 Core2Duo processors to be released.

I wonder if the L7500 at 1.5GHz Core2Duo is faster or slower than the current 1.83GHz Core Duo processor. If not, I might not wait for the L7500.

Here's a link that provides some useful information comparing the two processors. What's interesting is there's now no cost difference (for a given clock speed) between the two, perhaps because Intel wants to phase out the Core Duo.
