default password for IBM rescue and recovery

#1 Post by netseraph » Sun Sep 12, 2004 8:31 pm

I just got my T42 and had difficulty to figure out the password for IBM resuce and recovery. The software was installed by facotry. Is there a default password for it? Or is there anyway I could reset it?

Thanks

There should be no passwords set on a new computer.

The password may be the adminstrator password you have for Windows (there is usually a pop-up asking if you want to set this as the Rescue and Recovery password)

I called IBM for support and got a case number. The day after they called me and left a voice mail. The next day, they called me again and got hold of me. They could not figure out what's wrong (I did not have admin password since it's a corp laptop). However they offered to ship me the recovery CDs for free.

I'm very sastified with their service and thanks all your help.
