How to Un-install SLED10

#1 Post by jayanthd » Wed Jan 24, 2007 5:19 am

Hi Im a newbie here. I have more or less successfully dual-installed Suse SLED10 and Windows XP on my T60P. However, it looks like I did not do the linux install properly and would like to uninstall, then re-install it, leaving the XP portion as is. Can someone please point me to the appropriate instructions for such an exercise?

Much thanks,

jay

welcome to the forum

well, assuming you have linux on its own partition, use any utility you like to format that partition--personally, I use partitionMagic. That'll remove everything. Then reinstall.

a utility disk I recommend when playing with windows is RIP "recovery is possible." It's a linux live-CD that helps dealing w/ MS's tendency to overwrite yr boot info.

i had the same problem. my xp and suse worked fine with dual boot but i had some problems i wasent able to fix so a reinstall seemed easier. i simply booted on the install CD again and linux used its old suse partition to reinstall and left windows unharmed.

just do it again

Well, I un-installed, then re-installed by just deleting the partitions in XP that pertained to Linux (in the disk manager). Linux installed over the existing partitions and while all is still not perfect, I have a little more confidence that I am not bungee jumping!!

Thanks for the advice and support.
