battery warning from message center

#1 Post by rbsrao79 » Wed Jan 24, 2007 2:56 pm

I know there have been postings before which usually conclude with calling lenovo and asking for replacement. However, I have a few questions for those who have seen this message

"Irreparable damage to the battery has been detected. Replace the battery with a new one."

from message center. When I opened Power Manager-->Battery information, it said "The battery is in good condition". However the voltage exceeded the design voltage (11.08 vs 10.80).

Should I continue using the battery while waiting for replacement to arrive ? Incidently, my battery was not on the recall list.

as somebody in this forum once said "ain't that much difference between a bomb and a battery" from chemical point of view.

now the question is do you know for real what your battery's pb is? maybe you have a broken wire or a leaking cell (potential BOOOM), wanna take the risk?!

This has been reported before, but no definitive answer was forthcoming.

My friend had the same issue - she got the battery replaced. Any attempts to repair the orig battery resulted in rebooting.
