FS: Thinkpad T40 14" 1.5GHz 512 DVD/CDRW new Thai keybo
Well, it's time to sell yet another Thinkpad. I've run into some finicial issues and I can't afford to keep it around anymore. This thinkpad is MINT. I've just replaced the keyboard last month through the warranty (which was up in December) with a brand new Thai keyboard. There is very minor wear on the lid of the LCD from everyday use, not even noticable unless under direct sunlight. LCD and palmrest are in great condition. It honestly looks brand new to me.
I've had this laptop on Ebay 3 times! Each time it was won by a fraudulant account. So I've lost hope with ebay and turning it over to you guys.
Basic System Specs
1.5GHz Pentium M
14.1" XGA Screen
512MB RAM
40GB HDD
DVD-ROM/CD-RW
WiFi ready but no card.
Serial: 2373-7CU
Price: SOLD shipped FIRM

Out of curiosity and concern for my own (and other forum members) eBay sales, how did you determine they were fraudulent and what happened during the payment phase with each? Did they have hijacked eBay accounts? Hijacked PayPal accounts?
This is a big concern.
Good (better, anyway!) luck with the sale of this beauty. (If you're including an AC adapter, you might modify the description to mention that.)

Would also like to know if the AC Adapter is included and how many cycles/wear on the battery (6-Cell I presume?).

As for the fruads on ebay. The first two times I had it on ebay I had a Buy It Now price of $500 along with a regular bid acution. Both times it was bought by a person who had 0 to little feed-back and wanted me to ship the laptop to Nigeria (when it cleary states on my page I only ship within the U.S.) and sent fake paypal emails saying they paid for the item but never actually did.
I guess they think I'm stupid enough not to check my paypal before shipping out the laptop. Oh, and the third time they actually bid way over the reserve price (like $650) and won the auction.

Thanks for the info on the eBay problems. Sorry to hear about them, but good to keep people aware. Good luck on the sale.

If you try ebay again (for this laptop or something else) you can list strictly as buy it now, with best offer. AND, if you require immediate payment through paypal, the auction does not end until they pay you.r00 wrote:As for the fruads on ebay. Even if they send fake paypal emails, ebay is not going to stop the auction until the link to paypal through your sales page goes through and indicates satisfactory payment has been made. You should also state in the listing that you will not ship to other than the paypal verified address. By limiting the sale to the USA (or wherever) you further lock down the sale and prevent it being hijacked. There is a box to check indicating that you will only ship to the USA or USA and Canada. So, if the seller does not have a verified USA (or USA/Canada) address, they are blocked from completing the sale and the provision for immediate payment leaves your item up and your auction undisturbed.
Granted, selling this way will leave some money on the table, but it is as close to a sure bet as you can get with ebay.
