a30p network card troubles

hello,

i've been having an issue with my a30p for a while. it came with windows 2000 pro but i repartitioned it and installed windows xp home and freebsd.

since then, the machine seems to think it the mac address of it's ethernet card is all ones (FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF).

i've gotten another ethernet daughterboard from ibm but that didn't fix the problem. i recently requested ``product recovery'' disks from ibm and installed it, and this still doesn't work.

has anyone seen this problem before? is there a fix?
