z61p dead pixel

#1 Post by waraich » Thu Jan 25, 2007 7:11 am

I waited for over a month to get my z61p. Finally it got shipped after i talked to the line supervisor that i will consult with my lawyer about the misleading info on the website.

But when it came with a dead pixel and predominantly light leakeage form the bottom of the screen and COA lable torn off. Its not worth waiting for a long period and for the price i paid for the system.
tech support is lousy. this model is not mentioned in their dead pixel policy so i'm planning to file complaint about this in consumer protection services as they failed to provide me the policy.

booting is slow. machine is heavy.
i won't recommend anyone

I think that one bad computer is not a good enough reason to say that they all suck. My Z60m is a much better PC than my mom's Dell. I think that you just got on the phone with the wrong people.

And as far as I know, the Dead Pixel policy is 7 pixels. If there's that much problem with it though, talk to a supervisor and since you just got it, you'd think they'd be willing to replace it.

Waraich,

I waited for over 2 months for my z61p, and when I finally got it it has a group of grey pixels (not sure the count because they are all together, but it is definitely greater then 1).

Originally I was given three options:

1) Keep the system
2) Send it in for an RMA (I only have the standard warranty) and they will fix/replace the LCD (they said they would fix it even if it was not seven pixels because I had waited so long for the first one.
3) Return it with no restocking fee, and a full refund -- they would pay for shipping.

Since I needed a laptop now and they took so long in getting my z61p to me, I asked to speak to a customer service person. I got my case transfered to a customer service person and I was able to get them to let me keep the one I have until they ship me a new one. There still seems to be a backlog on z61p as the current ship date I have is for 2/12 for the new one. But, overall I thought it was nice that I didn't have to put up a fight for these options.

I would think you would easily be able to get option number 3 if you talk to sales, as this was immediately offered to me.

Yes i know the dead pixel policy is atleast 10 pixels or 5 pixels in a row. The tech support have already exhaused their resources to look up policy for z61p. end result: i was told that one can imply form the dead pixel policy for other models. but u can always request a policy for your model which they could not locate.

overall the system is good.

I agree with you on the dead pixel problem -- manufacturers need to disclose this upfront.

As for the machine being too heavy: the weights are all posted on the Lenovo website. It's not as if Lenovo hid this information.

I waited over two months to get a z61p; I ended up sending it back because I had (by that point) ordered a t60p, and I didn't care for the LCD (which had light leakage and a dead pixel.) I'll note that Lenovo didn't ask why; they happily took it back and paid for shipping.

My MS COA stickers have always been torn/scraped, but not removed. I assume this is in order to reveal the holographic strip.
