3000-N100 - Vista - Sound and Fingerprint Drivers

#1 Post by DonnieZ » Thu Jan 25, 2007 3:11 pm

I'm running Windows Vista on my 3000 N100 (0768-A2U) and I'm having some difficulty with the audio driver. Vista found the HD audio device automatically, but I don't think it's the right driver for this machine.

Audio says it's being output, but when I look at the mixer, the only available output device is SPDIF. No Speakers are working. Has anyone found a compatible driver for this?

I just got the machine yesterday and I'm evaluating it's use on Vista for some possible future purchases in our association. For the most part, it flies with Vista and only 1GB of RAM. Vista seems to have found a driver for just about everything else.

I also saw a thread about the fingerprint reader not working in Vista. Has anyone found a solution for this yet? The Lenovo site specifically says that the Thinkpad software is not supported on the 3000 series, and some other posts seem to indicate that it doesn't work.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Don

I had the same problems with sound when I loaded Vista, but the current XP drivers available on the Lenovo website work perfectly fine on Vista so I suggest you install them. As for the fingerprint reader, watch this space, no-one seems to have found working software/drivers for it. I'm really keen on Lenovo getting something released for it soon!

No fingerprint software either. Can we flash our bios to a thinkpad
firmware then we will get the thinkvantage software to work ?

Note: This software is not supported on 3000 Family desktops or 3000 Family notebooks with integrated fingerprint reader.
