Question about my LCD screen A22P

#1 Post by bluejay73 » Mon Sep 13, 2004 11:35 am

Hello,

This is my first post. I have had this thinkpad A22P for like 4 yrs. Recently I found a problem with my LCD. Now I get a straight vertical line on the right side of my screen.

I plugged to an external monitor and it doesn't show, so at least I know is not the video card. I know that getting dead pixels can happen, but a straight line from top to bottom???? Did anyone ever had that problem? I am just hoping is not the monitor.

thanks,

Hello, this is my first post either, and I want to apologise for bringing up this old topic, but I've got almost identical problem.

"Almost" becouse my R50e is, well, one month old...

It was discussed here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=4122 and I'm aware that it might be LCD itself, but I've got an interesting e-mail from IBM:

"The problem you have might be solved by removing the keyboard and see if you can see the lcd cable, if you can see the cable please press or reseat the actuall connector."

The thing is - I'm not sure - after the thread on this forum - if there is a possibility it will change something, and I don't want to disassemble new notebook by myself. On the other hand there is no way I can send it to repair and wait even two-three days. I've lots of work, and I'm now selling my old computer. :)

So - should I or live with that line until I've few days off work (which as far as I can tell can be somewhere in 2020 :P) or maybe it's better to risk and deal with the connector?
