Bitlocker wont work becuase of "Trusted Platform Module

#1 Post by phil81uk » Sat Jan 27, 2007 11:32 am

Hello,

I wish to enable Bitlocker driver encryption. It says that it cant enable it becuase;

"You rTrusted Platform Module (TPM) Security Hardware is not working correctly. The authorization data for the storage root key (SRK) of the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is not zero and is therefore incompatible with BitLocker. Click here to initialise the TPM".

I can then click and "Type the TPM owner password" (I assume this is my BIOS password), or "I do not have the TPM Owner password" which then allows me to reset the TPM but possiblly loose data.

I have no idea what anything of this means! Advice is appreciated.

PS It also says that I can to create a second partition for Bitlocker to work. I can do this myself.

I don't have the answer to your questions, but you might find them in the link below (there is a link on the page to download a Word document).

All I understood from that document is that it relates to the Bios, and so this TPM thing has something to do with the IBM hard drive security.
