Running Vista Ultimate on a Z60T

#1 Post by umern » Sat Jan 27, 2007 5:31 pm

Just for the record in case any other Z60T owners are considering Vista...

I have a Z60T model 2511-FFG and I have succesfully installed Vista Ultimate on it - got all of the drivers available installed on it but have not tried any beta ones (e.g. fingerprint)

Seems to be working fine - off course no Aero interface!

Is no Aero by choice? I thought that had the Intel embedded graphics that would support Aero?

No not by choice - I dont get the choice or option of enabling the fancy eye candy of Aero

I have installed the correct video driver from the lenovo website.

I have not played much with the other 'new' features of Vista but to be honest I am not sure what the big deal is?!? it seems that most of the stuff offered can be implemented in XP using addons etc...I am still checking it out so who knows maybe I will find something worth paying for.

I am currently using my MSDN Developer licence to check Vista out - before I dish out my hard earned cash. I purchased XP Pro upgrades for my all PCs when it came out all those years ago becuase I felt the stability of XP alone was well worth upgrading from WinME - this time I am just not sure...

You are right.

The GMA900 won't support Aero. Ever by the sounds of it.

Mind you, it will probably run faster for you without the Aero interface. :)
