does power manager run when the gauge is not displayed?

for the most part i have my TP on dock so its rarely on battery. however the thing i dont like about it is that it displays the gauge regardless of what power source you're running from.

NHC on the other hand can be set up to only display the its gauge on battery power = nice!

but the thing that i cant do with NHC is set battery charge levels, so if i set up the charge levels in power manager (90%-94%) and then close the visible gauge, will the battery still stop charging at 94%?
