Any info on the Vista free upgrade?

As the retail Vista upgrade versions cannot be installed fresh, but can only be installed over an existing Winxp install, anyone have information how the Lenovo free Vista upgrade is going to work?

If the Lenovo free upgrade is like the retail, do you think we could buy the Vista version restore disks if the original license was Winxp?
