560X memory upgrade

#1 Post by icebag » Mon Jan 29, 2007 10:21 am

I have a couple of 560X machines with the regulation 32+32Mb installed.

I came across three 64Mb SODIMMs (PC100, 8x64) so tried them in place of the removable 32Mb.

Neither 560X recognised any of the 64s, but all three of the 64s work fine in a 240.

Has anyone got an idea what the problem might be? :?:

I think you have to use EDO. If I remember properly, I was able to use a 32Mb EDO stick out of a 380ED in a 560 that I upgraded. In every case I've come across, machines that take EDO which basically applies to all Pentium 1 machines and some PII machines, they will not take SD-RAM at all.
