T60 - How to order or reformat without the pre load bloat?

#1 Post by Alltweed » Mon Jan 29, 2007 1:02 pm

Has anyone ordered their T60 without the preload bloat or reformatted the drive upon receipt and how did that go?

Anyone care to list pros/cons of doing this or suggest a better idea. What to keep and what to delete?

I had a t40P that finally crashed and in the last year I think I had problems with Access IBM, DLA, NAV pre load, driver incompatability etc. I am concerned about all these applications, DLL's, drivers not all being compatable.

Well, looks like Mountainman posted the same issue I had 20 minutes after I started my thread and already has replys.

Just post your reply in his thread for T60 preload, post format replies. if your looking for his thread search on:

I happen to think Lenovo's preload is one of the least bloated of the notebook makes.

It took me no more than 1/2 hour to remove everything I don't want and update to what I wanted.

I fresh install is nice but it is very finicky with drivers and software so make sure you know what you're doing.
