Dual Display on X 60

#1 Post by gauravk » Tue Jan 30, 2007 9:10 am

Hello, I am thinking about purchasing an X 60 an havent been able to track down a way to use dual displays on it (the dock doesnt support it).

is there any way i can adapt it to do so?

Do you mean two external displays? Or LCD + external display? It will certainly do the latter.

Yeah I was hoping that I could do the same but as far as I can tell you cant. There isnt a Doc that supports it. However you can dual the other way with the screen and an external lcd.

Possible solution

Matrox has a couple multi-monitor solutions that may work for you. They're called DualHead2Go and TripleHead2Go. Details about half way down on the link page.

So how did you use your "thinkvantage configuration" to get two external displays and the laptop display to run at the same time?

Turn on button shown in the Thinkpad Configuration link.

Where's the option for:
1 external monitor + 1 external monitor + LCD?

That's what the OP wants to setup. I can't seem to find that option under the display settings. How do you have output to three different displays (including the LCD)?

Just a thought: you do have two vga outputs if you dock your x60... :) I am not saying that you can have dual external display though as I personally haven't tried.

when you dock the X60, it disables the output to the onboard VGA port, so you will only have the VGA on the dock. You can run LCD+external, but unless you look at the Matrox solutions above, you won't be able to drive three displays.

Just out of curiosity can the T60 and the rest of the thinkpad family support 3 extended monitors with their ultrabase?

USB to VGA Graphics Adapter

A USB Graphics adapter would allow you to connect an additional monitor to the Thinkpad. I wouldn't play games on it but it does work. :)
