TP Fancontrol Settimgs Problem, always reading GPU not CPU

#1 Post by StarSheep » Tue Jan 30, 2007 3:36 pm

Hi guys

I just realised that my fans are running according to the GPU temps and not the CPU temps as they should.
Or are the fans supposed to run that way?

Those are my readings from FanControl:

CPU 49°C (0x78)
HDD 35°C (0x79)
HDD 38°C (0x7a)
GPU 64°C (0x7b)
BAT 50°C (0x7c)
BAT 31°C (0x7e)
XC0 40°C (0xc0)
XC1 46°C (0xc1)
XC2 49°C (0xc2)

If I hover over the tray icon it shows the GPU temp.
Is it supposed to do that?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

The fancontrol will adjust the fan speed according to the settings in the ini file and the highest temp among the sensors by default and doesn't matter if that is the CPU, GPU or something else. The temp shown in systray will be the component with the highest temp. It would be wrong to ignore everything except the CPU since they all need cooling and shouldn't be to warm.

You could make changes to the fancontrol.ini file to change the thresholds, fanspeed or even to ignore some of the sensors like the GPU if you prefer to do that. I don't think to ignore the GPU is a good idea though.
