I had a problem with my Thinkpad, and I had made a DVD recovery disk a while ago. So I booted up with the DVD drive in the first boot position, then went into thinkvantage software. I did a factory restore, I didn't have too much on the HD that needed to be restored. After I finished that, my computer rebooted, and it keeps going into Thinkvantage.
It is asking me for 2 disks, I don't remember the first one, but the 2nd one is something like "restore supplemental disk" or something like that. What else can I do?
So now the sequence is boot, "checking hardare , then boot into Thinkvantage. Ask for above mentioned disks, then rebooting. I recieved no discs with my Thinkpad, just the hidden partition and the disk I made a while back.

I believe Bill Morrow answers the question about the Supplemental disc here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=23402
EDIT: You should have two discs. The bootable startup disc, and the DVD disc with all the recovery software on it. The bootable startup disc will fit on one CD. The recovery software requires one DVD or about half a dozen CD's. How much space is taken up on the DVD you burned?

I figured it out last night. I remember something about burning a CD as well as a dvd when I made the disc way back when. I remember not making a CD because I was out of recordable cd's but I had DVDs. What I made was the recovery software, not the startup disc. I already called Lenovo, they are shipping one to me, hopefully by friday.GomJabbar wrote:I believe Bill Morrow answers the question about the Supplemental disc here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=23402

I still don't understand why everything can't fit on one disc.

Can I simply swap out my T5500 CPU in my 1953CTO T60 with a T5600? Or my T2400 core duo in my 2623D6U T60?
