#1 Post by cxls » Tue Jan 30, 2007 10:01 pm

Since there's no Software Installer for Vista yet, how have you guys been installing software? Active Protection System, etc.

System Update hasn't updated anything for me yet. And it doesn't work in the same way Software Installer does (installing things from C:\DRIVERS). :(

Both SU and SI will not download the latest drivers on the site until Lenovo updates the XML which will be in a couple of days.

i've been using the downloads and drivers page

#5 Post by johnp126 » Wed Jan 31, 2007 6:41 am

and changing the os to windows vista. that seems to get the updates first even before driver matrices. since at least i am looking to get them as soon as out to test thats the best place.

support and downloads from the main page
auto detect your system
change os to vista
downloads and drivers

that works best for me, once things settle with releases for me then its ok to have software updater check weekly for me

I simply run the package, have it install to the default directory, go there, and run the setup exe in the folder

I download in this manner the drivers and execute the downloads to unpack them. Then I run the system installer which picks up the uninstalled downloaded drivers and have it do the installs.

If you have trouble with setup.exe, try the following: Download the driver and execute the download to extract the driver files to your hard drive. Go into Device Manager and choose to update the driver that is not working. Point the update wizard to the directory where the above driver files were extracted to and follow the prompts.

I downloaded and installed the Vista productivity center by manually running the setup, but it won't execute when I click the icon. :S
