x60 tablet power consumption

#1 Post by rsyed » Wed Jan 31, 2007 4:42 am

Hi All,

i am aware that there an handful of x60 tablet users around but i just wanted to check with those what the power consumption of the new tablet is. If you were to
1) turn off all the wireless devices (bluetooth, wlan)
2) disconnect all usb devices
3) turn down the brightness to as low as possible
4) clock the cpu at a low clock rate (near 1 ghz instead of the 2ghz)

i have done this homework on several machines, x60 comes to about 7w, t41 to about 9w... basically the constellation above is my setting for my plane :)

cheers rumman

I would suggest that you not install Vista on your tablet at the moment. It seems to use quite a bit more power than XP even with Aero disabled. Power usage info for XP vs. Vista on X60 tablets in the link below.

Hi,

thanks for your help - got the number i was looking for:

"Using the Thinkvantage Powermanager, it says Vista is using an average of 11 Watts compared to XP which would average at 8 watts, and even go down to 6.5 watts at times..."

funnily, the consumption seems to be very similar to the consumption of a x60...

see you

On the topic of power usage, does the X60t use a LED or fluorescent backlight?

T42p — 1.5 GiB RAM, Kubuntu GNU/Linux 8.04
