My experience with Thinkpadworld

#1 Post by eritho » Thu Feb 01, 2007 5:09 am

I bought a T60P from thinkpadworld about two weeks ago.

When I inspected the laptop upon arrival I noticed that a screw had penetrated the keyboard bezel assembly in the left hingearea of the screen,
and put scratches in the lid and in the lcd-cover (see mobile phone picture here: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/1715/12ye6.jpg). It looks
like someone has mounted a longer screw than original and not noticed that it had gone through the bezel. It could explain why this laptop was
returned to IBM and refurbished, who knows. I immediately contacted Maurice at thinkpadworld explaining the damage in detail with pictures. When
I finally got a reply from a Gibril? at thinkpadworld they/him/her asked if the box had been opened by any postal officials and if it was any damage
to it. I sent several emails stating that the original tape was intact, the box was fine and none except me have opened the package, but I did not
hear from them again. I sent many many more emails to thinkpadworld begging for a solution to this problem, but I got no answer from Maurice and
his Gibril. Then I got tired of waiting and contacted a service engineer to help me assess the damage and order new parts to get it fixed. When
the service engineer inspected the laptop he noticed that the serial# sticker was missing from the backside of the laptop. The only sticker missing is
the serial# sticker. Why would anyone want to remove just that sticker? The service engineer advised me to take the laptop to the police, but I’m
very uncertain what to do. If I take it to the police I may end up losing it. What about the parts I ordered for $200, I got no need for them as well if
I turn over the laptop. I asked Maurice if he could cover some of the expenses, but I got no answer from him and his shop. I even offered to send a
written statement from the service engineer and a copy of the parts receipt, but still no answer.

Anyways, it’s probably safe to say that I’m not going to order any more laptops from thinkpadworld anytime soon. In the end it’s all my fault. I should
have searched the internet to see if there were any complaints about his shop. I should also paid more attention the negative feedback people have
left for him. Too bad I was one of them who had a bad experience with Maurice and his shop.

(Sorry for the terrible english)

have you looked at the serial number in the bios..?
you should find it in the thinkpad configueration applet..

then check warranty status on the ibm/lenovo website..

is the service engineer the local ibm/lenovo support center..?

i would also send a complaint to your credit card company and at least put a hold on the payment until the issue is resolved..
