Uninstalling ThinkVantage System Update

#1 Post by LiteSpeed » Thu Feb 01, 2007 1:37 pm

Greetings! I am getting ready to install Vista on my T60p. After reviewing the recommendations on the Lenovo website I have uninstalled the applications and drivers recommended. When I try to uninstall ThinkVantage System Update I get a message that the uninstall failed. My questions are:
1. How can uninstall this?
2. Assuming that I cannot remove it will i be able to get v3, the Vista version, to install over it?
Thanks,

It appears I have been able to load v3 with some effort. In the event that someone else experiences the joy of the 'fatal uninstall', here is what I did that worked:
1. I downloaded and ran the MS Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. This removed the entry from the Control Panel but left the program in place.
2. I loaded v3 on top of whatever was remaining and checked to be sure it was actually there.
Now on to Vista!

do you have the upgrade from lenovo where you cannot then do a clean install? i have read you can still do a clean install but only by having xp and then in the upgrade process wiping out the contents of the drive. even though i have read this is a better upgrade process, i and many always do a clean install to limit issues.. if you can i'd do that. i did a install on a clean drive as i had the 'full' version from msdn"
