#1 Post by swarne » Fri Feb 02, 2007 2:31 pm

Hey all,

On Jan 25th, after ordering a T60 from Lenovo with following specs; I just discovered this great forum today, must admit awesome job Bill.

Specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2Ghz
Windows XP Professional Edition
120GB Hard drive
1GB memory
CD/DVD Burner(DVD+/-RW)
15.4" TFT Widescreen
128MB ATI Radeon X1400
Gigabit Ethernet & Modem
Wireless 802.11n
9 Cell Li-Ion Battery
Fingerprint Reader
3-Year International Warranty
Cost $1633 US.

Just curious, is Lenovo providing eligible customers with a free upgrade to Windows Vista?

Thanks.

It might be easier to call and have them change the order to have Vista to begin with.

Dont do this. Wait till everything is working properly. If you start with XP Pro, you get 2 operating systems for the same price. If you start with Vista, you are stuck with it.

Very Good advice.

Also, guys correct me if I am wrong, isn't Lenovo offering upgrade to only those who had purchased a thinkpad pre-loaded with MS Windows XP Home between Oct and March?

xp pro users (in that time period) get Vista Business. I'm glad I got home, cause I can get Vista Home Premium, instead of Business.

just to note, shipping and handling is not free. I think it's about $10.

Interesting. I'm glad I got XP Pro for the exact opposite reason.

I assume they send you only an Upgrade license, not a full license. I don't know for sure if that's true or not. But if it is (and it would make sense), then your XP license is voided the instant you install Vista.
