R51 Keyboard mapping

#1 Post by mikek » Sat Feb 03, 2007 4:24 am

Just got my third thinkpad! Second hand R51. Like it.
But... I think it's a standard US 101 key keyboard... here in the UK. the backslash i shown on a key top immediately above the Enter key... it's backslash lower case and the pipe symbol uppercase. But when pressed they return the hash # and tilde ~ respectively. Any no key produces the backslash.... do I need to worry? I probably do if working at a command prompt. Any ideas how I can get a backslash character to appear?

Thanks
Regards

I would go to the Control Panel and select Regional Settings and Language Options, then click on the Details tab and select Advanced and make sure that a US keyboard is selected as your input device. My bet is that you have a UK keyboard selected as your input device.

I used to have this problem with my Acorn Risc PC whenever I plugged a normal US keyboard into it.
