Hi T2x hardware hackers,
my music apps say I have a builtin midi I/O in my T22. I'd like to avoid hooking an USB MIDI adapter and plug my master keyboard directly.
Does the replicator port feature a 15-pin joystick/MIDI port like old ISA/PCI soundcards ? If yes, which pins are connected to the MIDI in and out signals ? It takes only an optocoupler, a few inverter gates and resistors to connect keyboard, samplers etc... I don't want to buy a dock just for this, and could build a connector with only the 4 needed pins (just a bit of milling work) and two DIN sockets.
T22 dock port pinout wanted for midi I/O
Greetings, I have a T22 and this port replicator: http://www.weirdstuff.com/cgi-bin/item/18072
It does not have the 15 pin port you speak of; my husband also midi's his keyboard into his HP Pavillion PC and he has a standard midi cable which has that 15-pin plug at one end (to the computer) and both in and out plugs at the other end that go into the keyboard. But I was astonished at the price of that port replicator, so if you have need of one, grab that at $3.95!
By the way, which music app do you commonly use, my DH uses both Power Tracks Pro and Band-in-the-Box. Good luck.

Thanks for the cheap replicator info. But I won't have much usage of it because I just needed a MIDI I/O, and it seems the sound chip has not been fully wired. I already have a much heavier (and noisier) computer hooked to my keyboard: CI Design 2U rackmount case, dual PIII-933, 1GB RAM, Asus CUR-DLS mobo, Mylex RAID controller, W2K system on 9 GB RAID-1, data on 18 GB RAID-1, SB Audigy Platinum internal soundcard with front bay, Sony MPD-AP20U external USB combo CD-RW/DVD. I play software synths (Reason and VSTI's loaded in a lightweight VST host). I was dreaming of using my T22 as a MIDI sequencer build on free software, but a Linux setup is too time-consuming. Got problems with ALSA, JACK, DSSI, Rosegarden, realtime kernel ? Many search engine results and no one to tell clearly with a few schematics how to weave them together. Gonna wipe out this mess. Maybe a freeware sequencer and my MIDI USB interface under WE98SE will be enough.
Whoa, I am in awe. I'll bet that set-up looks awesome! My husband has his hands full just getting through Power Tracks Pro app, it does so much. He also likes the Sony Sound Forge program that I got him; that is cool for re-mastering tapes and old LP's onto CD's.
I wish you much luck.
I wish you much luck.
