Access Connections 4.31 problem

#1 Post by skanky » Sat Feb 03, 2007 7:03 am

Anyone else having a problem creating profiles in the new AC for vista? I get past the bit where you enter in wireless details but it just crashes :/

TRied both packages with and wireless dependancies but still not working.

I had this problem with previous (beta) release of Access Connections. It always crashed during creation of a profile.

My workaround was to export profiles from XP (I have a dual-boot configuration) and import them in Vista. Imported profiles work great and I can edit them.

Did not try release version yet.

Made a clean install of Vista and all current (as of 01/31) drivers from Lenovo. This time it works seamlessly.

Don't expect that a fresh install will fix the problem. I have the exact same problem and am on the second install of Vista.

I reinstalled expressly to fix the problem and Access Connections worked for a period of time. I went back in on a trip and tried to add another connection and the problem is back. At this point I am not going to go through another reinstall to try to fix this.

I think Lenovo is going to have to fix the buggy software. Unless someone else has another idea.

I even tried an uninstall/reinstall with the same error. Import and Export does seem to work so you can copy and edit your existing profiles. That being said I don't have a profile for Verizon WWAN and you cannot change the connection type on an imported profile. If anyone has a Verizon WWAN profile they wouldn't mind exporting for me until this gets fixed, I would greatly appreciate it.

I'd the same problem and I sort of fixed it by using "Find" in the access connection instead of "Manage". In "Find", I was able to locate my router and connect to it. At the end, I was able to finish saving as a profile without crashing. Not sure if that applies to you, hope this help.
