T60P 15" thinklight?

#1 Post by cheeebs » Sat Feb 03, 2007 9:04 am

just ordered the workstation... can't get a reply from lenovo so i thought i'd ask the crowd who would actually know:

T60P 2007 15.1", does it have a thinklight? if not, is it an option (although i found no such option when ordering)?

thanks!

Yes. It's not an option, it's standard equipment.

brief aside

steveg47, off topic one quick question:
you have the same basic machine i've ordered... assuming you run 9 cells of batt, what kind of life do you get (ballpark estimates of course)?

thanks.

Actually, I deliberately opted not to get the 9 cell bat even though it was a free upgrade at the time. Weight considerstions are very important to me. With the 6 cell I recently got 3+ hours with wifi on while burning 2 dvds (dvdshrink).

@cheeebs:

I just got my T60p widescreen. I don't know if the one you ordered is widescreen or not, but my specs otherwise are the same for the processor, video card, and hard drive. I am assuming that a non-widescreen model will get better battery life with less real estate to display (I could be wrong). I can easily get 5+ hours of non-intensive work (aka not gaming) with the 9-cell battery.
T60p widescreen (8741C2U)--Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 100 GB 7200rpm HD, FireGL V5250, WSXGA+ goodness

The T60p non-widescreen is Flexview and will get reasonably worse battery life than the widescreen. That's just the nature of IPS panels.

dr_st... is this a typo? (you said non-widescreen IS Flexview). here's my understanding: T60P 15" = widescreen = IPS = Flexview.

T60P 14" is not widescreen, Flexview/IPS.
T60P 14" has better battery life than 15" wide/flex. can you verify this? or are you contradicting every post i've seen regarding 15" display battery consumption vs. 14" whether flexview or not? or are you possibly comparing the T60P widescreen 15" to the T60 widescreen 15.4"? please clarify! thanks.

People, please try not to refer to 15.4" widescreen as 15" widescreen! It can be really confusing!

some confusion... lenovo's own .pdf info sheet on the T60P even shows only two display choices: 14.1" SXGA+ and 15.4"WSXGA+. even on the workstation infosheet they don't even mention the 15.1" display. even though most know better, the choices can be unclear.

BTW, IBM/Lenovo doesn't make 15.1" screens, only 15.0". Many people refer to 12.1" or 14.1" screens as 12" or 14" for simplicity, but 15" really means 15".
