t22 to t21 motherboard swap..no problem

#1 Post by roncoinc » Sat Feb 03, 2007 5:38 pm

I have a t22 900mhz that wouldnt start form the battery.(mod covered in a previouse post).i was given a t21 800mhz base with mobo.tested it and everything worked fine with it..
armed with the HWM i found the swap painless with absolutely no issues..swapped the chip, and everything ,,all screws lined up etc..
screen runs same resolution.....the heatsink and fan i used from the t22 because thats what was on the 900mhz but outside of just a tad diff in design i saw no size or heatsink diff between the two..even the fan was same size..
in windows none of the hardware changed..
makes me wonder what is the diff between the two ??
and i only had ONE screw left over !!!!! :D

There isn't too much difference. The are interchanged quite often.

Infact, you can put that 900MHz CPU into the T21, using the T22 fan, and you will have exactly what you did before...

About the only difference that I personally am aware of is the slightly upgraded S3 Savage video chip, but it uses the same drivers as the T21 chip.

I find the T2x series to be almost a pleasure to work on-very easy to disassemble and swap/change parts. Very easy to service overall.
