Resolution weirdness

#1 Post by dclee012 » Sun Feb 04, 2007 12:21 am

Hi All,

I have a weird thing happening on a T42. Regular resolution is 1400x1050. I want to change it to 1024x768.

When I change to 1024x768... it shrinks the screen to 1024x768. There is black margins filling in the spaces in a 1400x1050 space.

I want the 1024x768 to stretch over the standard 1400x1050 space. I thought this was normal, but apparently something has changed... Has this happened to anyone? And how do I fix it?

Thanks,
-D

Hi,

Since LCD screens have a limited number of pixels, and unlike CRTs, when the selected resolution does not match the physical one either it is presented as you see it (w/black borders for the not used parts of the display), or the actual image is interpolated to fill the entire screen, (with results which are not that good in many cases). If you want this latter thing, you either have to switch it on through the BIOS boot options (configuration->display menu), through the thinkpad configuration options (LCD configuration), or by using the PS2 HVEXP ON command.
760CD -> 770X -> 600E -> T23 -> T40 -> T42 -> T400 -> T430
